Hashem was born and raised in Amman, the capital of Jordan. After completing high school there, he moved to the United States to attend Wheaton College, Massachusetts, majoring in Political Science and graduating in May 2021. He then attended Northern Illinois University’s College of Law, graduating first in his class and earning four CALI Awards for Excellence for the Future for receiving the highest grade in the courses of Evidence, Conflicts of Law, Introduction to Lawyering Skills, and International Business Transactions. While in law school, he also won the Lakisha Sarden Award for the Study of Civil Procedure (2023), the Helene & Edward Fioretti Award for courses focusing on Professional Responsibility & Ethics (2025), and the George M. Shur Award for Academic Excellence (2025).

Hashem developed an interest in Business Law after taking Business Associations, International Business Transactions, Contract Law, and Securities Regulation courses in law school. He was also an editor at Northern Illinois University’s Law Review, where he edited various law review articles published by the journal. Before law school, Hashem interned at the Embassy of the Kingdom of Jordan. He also worked as a journalist at the English-speaking Jordanian news outlet Jordan News, before interning at Khalifeh & Partners, a Jordan-based law firm. In 2022, he worked as a legal administrative assistant at Brown Advisory in their Boston office. After his first year of law school, he was a judicial intern at the Peoria County Courthouse, where he observed both civil and criminal proceedings in state court, in addition to attending events hosted by the Peoria County Bar Association, and interviewing lawyers, judges, and state’s attorneys. Hashem has experience working on transactional and litigation matters, including entity formation, entity conversion, contract review, wage claims, landlord-tenant disputes, and trusts and estate matters.

Hashem was sworn-in as an Illinois-licensed attorney in November, 2025. He is fluent in both English and Arabic.
